Christopher MacDonald

Chris MacDonald is an experienced leader in developing local content strategy for the private and public sectors, with over 15 years of experience leading ICV, CSR and socio-economic impact studies in Oman. Prior to Oman, he has developed Local Content/ICV strategies for Shell Companies globally since 1991. Previously Managing Director of DAI Oman and GCC, based in Muscat, Chris led DAI in the execution of Oman’ Cross Sector National ICV Strategy led by MOCIIP and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). Amongst many other public/private sector reviews/studies in Oman, Chris oversaw the Socio-Economic Impact Assessment of Green Hydrogen on the Omani Economy, conducted by DAI on behalf of Energy Renewal/Ministry of Energy and Mining’ Green Hydrogen Committee, chaired by The Minister of Energy and Minerals.

Prior to his tenure at DAI, Chris spent over 36 years with Shell International and has extensive international and cross-cultural experience from expatriate residential assignments in 12 countries including Brunei, Egypt, Tunisia, The Netherlands, Bangladesh, Norway, Oman, Kazakhstan, Gabon, United Arab Emirates, and Russia. During his tenure with Shell, Chris contributed to contracting, procurement, and human resources strategy while being a leader in supply chain management as well as the development of local content and in-country value strategy in the oil and gas upstream, mid-stream and downstream sectors. Chris was at the forefront in Shell International in developing their Local Content thinking and implementation for over 25 years. Chris was a founding member and key strategist in Shell’ Global Local Content Management Team.
